OVERVIEW

American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO) is jointly developed by Southern Illinois University and SIMCC to give more STEM/STEAM opportunities. We are finalising the university bonus points to top award winners as well as US university scholarships.

To develop Mathematical flexibility in solving problems
To provide for the satisfaction, joy, and thrill of meeting challenges

To open-up US University Scholarships and Educational opportunities for students

 

FORMAT OF THE TEST

American Mathematics Olympiad is open to all Primary 2 to 6, Secondary 1 to 4, and Junior College 1 and 2 students worldwide (or Grades 2 to 12).

The duration of the AMO is 1 hour and 30 minutes for each level.
Grade 2 to 12 – 25 questions
Section A = 10 MCQ questions x 3 points = 30 points
Section B = 10 MCQ questions x 4 points = 40 points
Section C = 5 Open ended questions x 6 points = 30 pts
Total = 100 points with no points deducted from wrong answers.
Calculators are not permitted during the contest.

AWARDS

Each participant receives a Certificate of Participation or an award certificate for winners below:

Perfect Score Award (Full mark) – qualifies as a significant award for IJHS
Gold Award (Top 8%) – qualifies as a significant award for IJHS
Silver Award (Next 12%)
Bronze Award (Next 20%)
Honorable Mention Award (10%)
Certificate of Participation (Next 50%)

The top 40% of the participants will receive an award certificate. All winners are invited to compete at SIMOC 2023 to be held in Singapore from July 23 to 26, 2023  The top 20% of winners are invited to compete in STEAM AHEAD 2023.

  Students must register with the SIMCC country organizer and contest entry is available on a first come first served basis, so register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
